Welcome to Seasonal Sundays!
As the reports of Blizzard Nemo started flooding in, my thoughts turned to Hurricane Sandy. If we lost power again, I wanted to be prepared. What had I learned from Sandy, and how could I do better this time? The wood came into the living room so it would be dry, in the event that became our source of heat. The lanterns sere placed center stage.
As odd as it sounds, one of the things I wanted to change from Sandy, was that I wanted to have more fun with it. If we lost power, there wasn’t a darn thing I could do about it, but I could change my attitude. I was not a happy camper during Sandy, being without power for 6 days. Nor were my children. What’s the old saying? If momma ain’t happy, nobody is happy. So I thought, at least I could have a little fun with my camera. This is what it looked like around 11:30 pm as I let my doggies out right before bed.
And this morning! For whatever reason, we got far less snow than most of Long Island. Even our neighboring communities got 13 and 15 inches. We only got about 7 inches. And…the best news was we didn’t lose power!
This was last night with the snow flying…
And this was this morning. Kind of peaceful.
Last night and…
…this morning. Man, I need to get those stickers off of those pots. Funny how sometimes you don’t notice things. Do you think that rosemary will make it through?
And in all fairness, it’s a whole lot easier to have a positive attitude…
…with power!!! We’ve been told not to travel, unless necessary. Many of the highways are closed. I’m pretty happy to be snuggled up at home with my family.
So, what have you been up to? Can’t wait to hear. It’s always so neat to hear what everyone is doing, whether they be near or far.

So glad you didn't lose power! You can tell you the mother of girl scouts with your firewood and lanterns :) It is so pretty when it first falls, I was hoping we would see a few February snowflakes but it's not likely. Snow is an insulator so your rosemary might be OK!
It's so great that you haven't lost power! Hooray for that. Happy Valentine's Day and thanks for hosting.
I am so thankful you didn't loose power! Just enough snow to have fun and enjoy.
Thanks for hosting........

Omg, sweet friend, keep safe and don't think you'll be left without power. I'm a NYorker too, so I went through lots on winters like this and we never had no power, ever!..in fact, how strange it seems to me that there was a hurricane!!!!!! Thanks for hosting this great party. Have a nice week.
FABBY
You have certainly had more than your share of winter weather this year! It is so beautiful, though. I hope you all are staying warm and enjoying your weekend together :) I loved your Valentine tablescape! Thanks so much for hosting, and here's to better weather!
xo, Andrea
Thank you for sharing your Nemo pictures. Looks like you were well prepared for this weather event.
I'm still waiting to get any snowfall here in NE Oklahoma. Looks like this may be the winter we have no snow.
Smiles,
Carol
I'm glad you weren't walloped with too much snow and keep your power! happy valentine's day! Our little valentine was born this past week--we are on cloud 9!
So happy that you are safe and have power. The snow certainly looks beautiful to this southern girl who almost never sees it, but I am sure most of you in the northeast are tired of all of these storms! Thanks for hosting.
Hi lovely lady.
I see you got a lot of snow hope you had the fireplace going. Thanks so much for having your linky party. I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day with your family.

Glad you haven't lost power, but I have to admit you were perfectly prepared, especially with the attitude :) We also have a lot of snow here in Toronto and everything is so beautiful and clean. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your Seasonal Sundays.
Wishing you a peaceful Sunday!
Alma, I guess we're kindred spirits in more areas than dishes... I'm afraid I would NOT have been a happy camper either if I had to go without power for 6 days -- but, like you, I'd have known Mama had to get her attitude adjusted before the next time! I'm glad you made the adjustment even though you didn't lose power again. No doubt your home was less stressed anyway. Ah, the power we Mamas have to affect those around us! I hope you stay inside and enjoy your family. Maybe make a few Valentines, too!
If your rosemary ends up being OK, then mine will be OK! Looks just like yours right now. So glad you didn't lose power! We got 8" but we are used to that.
Stay warm and dry and happy!
Thank you for hosting.
Lots of snow but didn't loose power! Now that is something to be thankful for! I like that you were prepared this time. Happy Sunday!
Linda
This winter has certainly been challenging. But I am glad that you have a positive outlook and that you did not loose any power. I had the same attitude, red a little, snuggled and cooked a lot. It is always nice to be home with the family. Thanks for hosting.
Glad to hear that you and your family are safe and snug at home. I think of a snow filled day when you can stay home without feeling guilty is a real treat. Have fun!
Big Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
I'm really glad you didn't lose power this time around!! My husband and I have been hoping for one good-sized, pretty snow this winter; but so far, that hasn't really happened. As long as our power stays on, I really enjoy being tucked in nice and cozy and looking at the snow out the windows.
Thank you for hosting and Happy Seasonal Sunday! :)

It missed us!!! I am so glad you didn't lose your power!! But you were prepared, even your atitude:). It is so weird that we never notice something til we take a icture. Stay warm. Thanks for hosting. XO, Pinky
Wow! That's a lot of snow! Thank goodness you didn't lose power. Looks like you were ready if you did, though. It does look very peaceful with a blanket of fresh snow. Thanks for hosting this great link party! =D
Glad to hear that the power stayed on!! I, too, have a pot that has a sticker that defies removal. Must be from the same glue pot?! Stay warm.♥♫
Glad to hear you didn't lose power (agree~it's the worst). Your photos are beautiful. Hope your Rosemary makes it, mine is in a pot also and so far so good.
Thanks for hosting! :) Pam
Thanks so much for hosting! So glad that you kept your power during the storm! We have had less than one inch at my house this entire winter! My kiddos would LOVE a little snow! Life to the full, Melissa @ DaisyMaeBelle
Glad you didn't lose power ... Southern Illinois is tornado alley and when we were hit by an inland hurricane in 2008, as soon as it cleared, I rushed out and bought a generator ... Just knew we would be without power for too long. Six days .. and that was miserable. I was thinking about you all day yesterday ... Glad you are snuggling!
I am happy the power stayed on there.....and here. It was as bad as we thought for Staten Island, I'd say 8 or 9 inches of snow. I hope it warms up tomorrow and starts to melt. Thanks again for hosting. I am always happy to join. xo
Glad you are enjoying the snow! Not much we can do. Feel bad for those who have to get to work in it though.
Thanks for hosting!
As we returned from dinner out, it was beginning to spit. We're told to expect a sleet storm with 65 mph wind overnight. We'll see come morning. Glad you've retained power. Thanks for hosting us. Cherry Kay
Wow, you fared a whole lot better than Kathleen...happy to hear no loss of power!
VERY smart to bring that wood inside! I never would have thought of that! I guess experience is the best teacher, and when you've been horribly inconvenienced you tend to learn more!!! I am just happy as heck that you guys didn't lose power this time. It's not that hard to stay in for a few days as long as you have heat and plenty of supplies. Stay safe!
How great you are to have such a good attitude during a blizzard. The pictures are great - we had some hail on Friday and quite cold for here.
Glad that everything is okay.
Mary
Glad to hear that you are "snuggled in"...and have power...Although cold, and sometimes hazardous, the snow is really pretty...especially when the falling snow is over and the skies are a beautiful blue and the sun sheds beautiful light on the snow....have a great weekend!
Enjoy your snow, especially with having power!
We just returned from SC, just in time for me to join in! Thanks for hosting!
Katherine
I now its dangerous, however I would love to be in a huge snow storm like that, all fixed to use the wood stove for heat and cooking, all my animals in the house and my family.
So glad all is well for you
Love the positive attitude and that you have power. It will be in the 80's here in Puerto Rico today. I will be thinking of you. Peace
So glad you didn't get too much snow. 7 inches is manageable and best of all is you still have your power. Sometimes it's nice to be snowbound, to have a reason to not go out, a forced stay in is a welcome reprieve from the business of the world - as long as you have power :)
Cindy
We only had rain here in VA and Saturday was a beautiful, clear, but cool and windy day. We have a whole house generator, just in case though.
The storms are so much more bearable with power, I agree!! Glad you didn't lose it this time. We only got about 4 inches, we were lucky.
Thank goodness you didn't lose power, but oh my, it looks so cold!
Thanks for sharing your snow storm experience! Your readiness was a wise move but I'm glad you retained your power. You were also fortunate to receive only 7 inches of snow. Stay warm and have lots of hot chocolate and family time.
Pam
Though we're not in Maine at the moment, we've heard lots about the blizzard which dropped 24" of snow in our area. What a crazy winter this has been! It's probably just as well you escaped the worst of the storm.
Thank you for hosting and glad you had fun with the weather and it didn't turn out as bad as you thought it might..Happy Sunday..Judy
Glad you did not loss power and it wasn't as severe as expected.
Thank you for your diligence in hosting despite your conditions
Your pictures are pretty.
Snow days WITH power are the best! We were in California visiting friends this weekend and it was hard to get news of Nemo out there! Hope things are back to normal for you soon, and I agree, attitude is everything!
Jenna
That looks like a lot of snow to this Southern girl! I'm so very glad that you did not lose power. Thanks for hosting your party for us!
I'm so very glad to read that you made it through Nemo without major disruption & that everyone was safe at home. No power is NO FUN!!!
Thanks for hosting SS again. I'm a little late, as I was sewing all day yesterday & forgot to link up.
Hugs,
Rett
WOW! So much snow! I am glad your didn't loose power. I hope the weather gets better for you guys soon. Thank you for hosting!
I'm so glad that you had just enough snow to be beautiful, without becoming a problem. Happy Valentine's day!
