Welcome to The Tablescaper.
How do you set a table to celebrate a guy’s 18th birthday?
Well, certainly there would be no flowers…
…and lots to drink.
How about a game or two? Poker or dominoes …
…or more? Checkers or chess? Maybe a game of pool or billards? And with a deck of cards handy, the possibilities are endless.
While I love my son to pieces…
…but figuring out a birthday party for him…
…is less than easy.
Playing cards and dominoes hold each place.
These plates, found at a dollar store this past summer, where the beginning of the inspiration.
I have been hot on the trail for a solid or at least solid rimmed hunter green plate. I felt they would add to my collection and could easily be used for the holidays. This is an out of production Crate & Barrel plate found on eBay.
All were set upon a black charger.
It didn’t matter…
..your game of choice,
…all had a good time.
Once again, a wide range of soft drinks were at hand…
…followed by a hearty steak dinner.
Setting a table for a guy can be a bit of a challenge, but…
…it can be great fun rising to that challenge!

Oh, I know your son and his friends enjoyed dining at this amazing table! You have collected so many wonderful game-related pieces! The triangular plates are especially fun. I know you WILL enjoy those hunter green rimmed plates.
You definitely hit a home run with this one. What a perfect theme for a guy's table, and your creative touch with all the details makes it a "slam dunk". The pool ball plates are so cute. I can see how they started the creative juices flowing. Your centerpiece with the game board and the game pieces used as place card holders are very clever. How you found the candle dice is amazing. You didn't miss a beat on this one. Not that you ever do. Your tablescapes are always *****.

Oh my goodness...I'm feeling like a loser mom. I think my son probably had paper plates and pizza on his 18th! Of course he is 30 now and he has never had a table that looked this good set in his honor! I love this...you are so right, setting a table for a "male" occasion is truly difficult. What is that huge domino...love that!
