Skating at Bryant Park–Seasonal Sundays # 133

Seasonal Sunday Teapot copy

Welcome to Seasonal Sundays!

December NYC 008

Bryant Park is an awesome place to meet up with friends to go ice skating. It is located directly behind the New York Public Library.

December NYC 052

Ice skating at Bryant Park is free, although skate rentals and private lessons are available.

December NYC 070

Bryant Park was dangerous, underused and run-down. The transformation of  the park was completed in 1992 by the Bryant Park Corporation. December NYC 072

Bryant Park is fully funded and run by the Bryant Park Corporation; no tax dollars are used to run it.

December NYC 024

One of the amusing sights!

December NYC 060

What have you been up to?

I've only tried ice skating once, and it was a disaster. My ankles kept collapsing. I love to watch ice skating though, and this does look like a fun place to go watch. Thanks for hosting. laurie

Looks like lots of fun. I love that last shot! Haven't been ice skating since I was much, much younger. The Whole Foods here has an ice skating rink on their roof top for the holidays. I notices lots of activity on the rink this afternoon.

New York City is such a magical place isn't it! Last year my hubster took the kids ice skating at Rockefeller Center...they had a blast. I was the official photographer so no skates on my feet! LOL. Your pics are just beautiful! Wishing a wonderful first weekend of the new year and thank you so very much for hosting!!

I've been "junking" and bought some great sets of dishes for my booth at the flea market! Love junk shops and the Salvation Army thrift shop. Love your pics of ice skating and I'm sure it looks easier than it really is.

We visited Bryant Park the week before Christmas! That tree with all the blue lights was gorgeous! We didn't ice skate but had a great time watching those who did.

I love ice skating ~ especially outdoors. When I was young we all went ice skating after school and on weekends. The outdoor rink had a field house with a stone fireplace and we used to go inside and drink hot chocolate. Magical memories. I miss it! Thanks for hosting and Happy New Year.

Big Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

What an encouraging thing the renewal of the park is to persons thinking of embarking on a similar project.
How great that it is still self sufficient after all this time.
I tried to link up but the link button wouldn't respond. I will go back and try again. I thought you may want to know in case something is wrong.
Happy New Year, Ginger

That ice skating rink looks amazing. What fun. Tomorrow we are headed towards Tahoe, in the Sierra Nevada’s. We are going to take the kids ice skating in Northstar. I hope it's as fun as this looks!

We have family that lives (or did until recently) in your area and I've heard them talk about Bryant Park and it's so nice to actually see what they were talking about. What a pretty park. I never had the opportunity to learn to ice skate as I grew up in the south. But my husband talks fondly of ice skating in his youth.

Happy weekend and thanks for hosting.

My DH always says the way to survive winter is to learn to have fun in it. Looks like there is lots of fun going on there!
I never tried ice skating. :-( I'd probably break an arm or hip now if I did it, but it sure is fun to watch. Kent State has a really nice outdoor rink & Ms. C. has gone to it with her Girl Scout troup.

Thanks for continuing to host SS & I'm thrilled to be able to participate again.

Warm hugs,
Rett

Such pretty pictures it makes me regret never learning to ice skate. I learned to know ski and have roller skated but missed out on the ice skating. Too late now but it looks like so much fun.

Thanks for hosting.

The ankles are no longer skate worthy. I do love to watch skaters, though. It's marvelous that the park commission created such a wonderful treasures for neighbors and visitors. What am I doing....had a belated Christmas dinner last night, so now I'm determined to get Christmas put away! Thanks for hosting us. Cherry Kay

Cool post! There has never been an ice skating until a few years back when a minor league hockey team came to town. I'm glad I was able to post. It seems like Blogger doesn't mesh well with IE any more. I had to use chrome to upload my pictures.
Thanks for hosting!
