Welcome to Seasonal Sundays.
Fall Metallic Dining room 003
Whenever you redecorate a space in your home, it’s always a bit of a challenge to decide how you’re going to decorate it for the first time in each of the upcoming seasons.

Harvest

Copy of IMG_7593
Welcome to The Tablescaper. Life has been sooo out of control and busy that I haven’t a moment to prepare a Harvest table. I am very blessed to be hosting my son’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor this Friday, which is fabulous, but a tremendous amount of work. I’m not talking about the Eagle project. That was a ton of work, but that’s long behind us. It’s different in every troop, but in our troop, the Eagle Scout Court of Honors are individual and wholly and completely planned by the Eagle Scout’s family. I’ve been playing with tables, but not Fall ones! You know I’ll have a post, all too soon, showing you the entire event (Kathleen of Cuisine Kathleen is coming!) but for now you’ll have to deal with a reprise of one of my most favorite harvest posts – when I entertained my now defunct book club.

Since my Book Club meets in the evening, I like to put out an array of munchies.

Life was extremely busy (when isn’t it?) the week we met for Book Club, so most of the food was via of Trader Joe’s.

Early Fall–Seasonal Sundays # 119

Seasonal Sunday Teapot copy

Welcome to Seasonal Sundays.

Fall Leaves 015

It’s early Fall here in the north east. My hollies have berries, but they haven’t begun to change color.

My Japanese Maple turns a deep beautiful burgundy, but not yet.

Owls–Seasonal Sundays # 118

Seasonal Sunday Teapot copy
Welcome to Seasonal Sundays. I imagine that you, like me, probably have a ton of Fall décor, but I’m always looking for a way to spruce up what I have and give it a new look. I don’t want to go out and buy a ton of new things, just a couple of touches here and there. Well, this season’s fav theme has to be OWLS. I’ve seen them everywhere and decided they were clearly the addition I needed to kick my Fall decorations up a notch.
Owls 014
I found this little guy at Target this summer in the $2.50 section. What ever happened to the Dollar section?
Owls 017
I filled him with some fresh potpourri and placed him in my entryway.
Owls 002
I’m so happy that Trader Joe’s opened near my home. They have great prices on plants. This orchid, for $12.99, helped bring my entryway to Fall. If you’re looking for more ideas, HERE is last year’s entryway arrangement. This year’s is a bit more casual.
Owls 008
Did you see the touch of my helper, Baci, in the prior photo? She’s one of our two Bedlington Terriers.
Owls 023
This guy flew in from The Christmas Tree Shop (could not resist at $9.99). He’s welcoming you before you even get in the door. Right now he’s flying solo, but as it begins to feel a bit more like autumn, pumpkins and gourds will surround him.
Owls 058
This fellow is a lot bigger than he looks – a healthy 10 inches. I’m not exactly sure where he’s going to nest, but I’m sure it will be with some mercury glass pumpkins.
Owls 043

Love this little pitcher also found at The Christmas Tree Shop. I’m in the midst of conjuring up what tablescape he will land on.
Owls 046
How cute are these little friends found at Pier One? They were $5. for the pair and then on sale for I think $4. And they will no doubt find themselves in a tablescape as well.
Owls 048
But perhaps my favorite is this vintage owl, unearthed from my Mom’s decos of the 60s. Yes, owls were big back then too! Loving him in my dining room! You can see more of the dining room HERE.
Looking forward to seeing how you’re readying your home for the Fall. Have you made any new purchases. I hadn’t realized just how many owls I had purchased until I started putting this post together. Hmmm…hope I didn’t over do it. They are all so different. I think once they are scattered about my home, they will nest in perfectly.

My sister-in-law Jean makes the best fish tacos.

She takes some white fish (cod, flounder, scrod)  adds a ton of avocado, red onions, cilantro, tomatoes, and tosses with some vinaigrette made with fresh lime juice.

When wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla…

Summer’s End–Seasonal Sundays #116

Seasonal Sunday Teapot copy

Welcome to Seasonal Sundays.

summer ideas 041

To me, summer ends on Labor Day weekend.

summer ideas 044

I know, technically (in the Northern Hemisphere), this year summer doesn’t end until September 20th, but…

summer ideas 049

…to me, summer ends on Labor Day.

summer ideas 053

Most head back to school. Many are already there.

summer ideas 054

The lazy, hazy, days of summer are over.

summer ideas 056

Staying up late, not worrying about bedtimes.

summer ideas 059

Sleeping in. Waking when you’re rested, not when need to be up.

summer ideas 061

You hear the roar of the school buses.

summer ideas 062

It’s time to put away those novels you never read and get on with life. Hope you enjoyed your summer.
