Tropical

tropical 055

Welcome to The Tablescaper.

tropical 002

In my tablescape post  last week, I discussed how a tablescape can take you away. Last week we went to Nantucket (click here to see if you missed it).

tropical 060

This week’s tablescape…

tropical 017

…takes you to a tropical paradise.

tropical 025

You can pick the exact destination.

tropical 027

An April Cornell napkin starts the stack…

tropical 031

…with a bamboo napkin ring a the cherry on top.

tropical 035

Love the spirit of this pink glass plate (a Christmas Tree find).

tropical 036

tropical 038 The chocolate dinner plate was part of a bargain boxed set a purchased a few years back at Burlington Coat Factory.

tropical 041

The felt place mat was a Dollar Tree purchase a year or so ago.

tropical 013

The twiggy runner sets the stage (I think this was from HomeGoods).

tropical 055

The bamboo flatware is by Cambridge.

tropical 005

The bamboo vases were spied in a Dollar store by the Kathleen, the Queen of Shopping.

tropical 049

And an umbrella in your drink….

tropical 011

…completes the mood.

tropical 022

What faraway destination…

tropical 053

…would you like find yourself at?

Guacamole and Lobster

IMG_5428

Welcome to The Tablescaper.

The link for Seasonal Sundays is open whale 060until late Monday night, so be sure to come join the fun (just click the little photo above to get there directly.)

One of my most favorite hors ‘d oeuvres is Guacamole with Lobster! It’s hard to improve upon guacamole by itself or lobster by itself, but when you put the two together, it’s divine!

IMG_5431

My inspiration was at cocktail party, but they used crabmeat. My sister-in-law Anne and I were experimenting and we decided lobster would taste even better, and we were right!

IMG_5428

When making this hors ‘d oeuvres, I highly recommend using homemade guacamole. Although there are some pretty decent store made ones out there, when you’re adding lobster, you want to get all of the flavor possible. The little cup shaped corn chips cradle the guac best. We filled each little chip with some guac and then topped each with some lobster. We purchased precooked and cleaned lobster which made it an easy, albeit extravagant, hors ‘d oeuvres!

What’s your favorite hors ‘d oeuvres?

Ocean–Seasonal Sundays #115

Seasonal Sunday Teapot copy

Welcome to Seasonal Sundays.

whale 059

Somehow it just isn’t summer without a trip to the ocean.

whale 064

The ocean provides entertainment…

whale 062

…for all ages.

whale 060

Which one is the life guard? LOL!

whale 069

We’re fortunate enough to go to a beach with rest rooms and food services. Of course there is a hefty tariff on your lunch bill for that convenience, but…

…you could always bring your own. This photo is from one of my first posts on my blog.!Click HERE to see the complete post.

whale 066

Hope that you get to enjoy at least one day at he beach this summer!

whale 072

There’s nothing like it!

Nantucket Blues

Nantucket Blues 012

Welcome to The Tablescaper.

Nantucket Blues 012

There is something about this table,..

Nantucket Blues 048

…these gathered lanterns…

Nantucket Blues 043

…and this shade of blue that make me think of Nantucket.

Nantucket Blues 007

Clearly not in Nantucket, but rather Long Island, New York.

Nantucket Blues 014

But there are many times that the feel of a table…

Nantucket Blues 028

…can make you think…

Nantucket Blues 031

Nantucket Blues 045…of somewhere else.

Nantucket Blues 051

Maybe that’s why I like tablescaping so much.

Nantucket Blues 025

By simply placing objects upon a table…

Nantucket Blues 008

…we can evoke emotions…

Nantucket Blues 027

…and feelings…

Nantucket Blues 033

…that take you to someplace…

Nantucket Blues 054

…entirely different.

Tip: You can transform the look of a table top by simply laying a small cloth over a tablecloth. I fell in love with this French hand towel and used it as the base of my table top. The layer allowed the shades of blue I was looking for to pull through to the entire table.
