Seasonal Sundays # 107 – Fourth of July

Welcome to Seasonal Sundays.

What are your plans for the Fourth of July?

Unfortunately the holiday seems to take a lesser turn when the fourth is on a Wednesday.

It doesn’t make for a three or four day holiday, but none the less, it is an important one.

The celebration of our INDENDENCE!

 

We are truly blessed to live in this wonderful country.

I love the symbolism of my friend’s flag pole, with the flag of the United States of American at the top, followed by the flags of their heritage.

Perhaps my nephew’s favorite brand of shirt sums it up best.

The British are not coming

Welcome to The Tablescaper.

The British are not coming, in fact they’re not even invited, to this celebration of Paul Revere.

"If the British march

By land or sea from the town to-night,

Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch

Of the North Church tower as a signal light,--

One if by land,

and two if by sea;

And I on the opposite shore will be,

Ready to ride and spread the alarm

Through every Middlesex village and farm,

  Christmas Tree purchase several years ago.

Love these! Only wish I could find more. The deep red is beautiful.

Pewter chargers purchased on clearance in NYC quite a number of years ago.

It Takes a Village

 

Welcome to The Tablescaper, as I continue my tour of tables prepared for the Senior Citizen Tea presented by our school district (click HERE for full story).

I pulled together all of my house like dishware for a table that was a perfect theme to pull together the various age groups of our community.

It takes a village!

I brought this adorable teapot back from a vacation in Bermuda. Love those tile roofs.

Even this mini mug had a “house” theme to it.

I purchased this tea pot a couple of years ago at a tag sale. Much to my surprise, inspection of it’s underside revealed it was originally purchased at Walmart!

I am such a house person, so it was fun to pull out bits of my collection to adorn this table.

The salt and pepper shakers were from a little touristy shop in South Beach,Florida. I had to have them as they reflected the art deco style of the area perfectly. The little creamer is vintage.

It took a village to present and enjoy our tea!

Seasonal Sundays # 106 - A Burst of Blue

Welcome to Seasonal Sundays.

Well, I knew it wouldn’t last long.

As you may recall, when I unveiled my dining room makeover…

I had my corner cabinet filled will all white.

Many shades and patterns, but still all white.

Well, I’m a COLOR girl, so I knew the all white wouldn’t last long.

I was recently in a local consignment shop and spotted quite a bit of blue glass.

Blue glass of the same shade as a small collection I had amassed through the years.

Well, this blue hob nail vase that was in my collection…

…now had a slightly milkier mate.



And this ruffled hob nail…

…suddenly had a mate as well.

I certainly couldn’t leave this sweet hob nail creamer and sugar behind.

Whenever I add to any collection, the question always becomes, where am I going to put it? Well, the answer suddenly became abundantly clear. The all white cabinet needed a burst of BLUE!
