Welcome to The Tablescaper.
This week I held my annual Ladies Christmas Luncheon.
Despite how busy and crazy we all are,
…particularly at this time of year, each year I carve out a special day in which I celebrate my friends.
The theme of this year’s table was The Nutcracker.
Each year I start my luncheon with a special cocktail.
This year we had Ginger Snaps (one part Bailey’s, one part Butterscotch Schnapps, one part milk and rimmed in crushed ginger snaps).
I love to pause from all of the Christmas preparations and…
…take the time to celebrate my special friendships.
This year my table was surrounded by old and new friends.
For so many years I’ve served chicken, so this year I splurged and served individual filet mignons with BĂ©arnaise sauce.
I made individual potato gratins (a combination of Yvonne and Kathleen’s recipes), hmm… this one seems a bit brown but they were delicious with melted cheeses between the slices of the potato. Green beans with red pepper added some festive color.
One of my newest friends, Tina, made this amazing Chocolate Walnut Tart. It has to be one of the best tasting things I have every experienced. I’m trying to get her to share her recipe!
Much champagne flowed (Nancy took on the role of the official sommelier)…
…as we laughed and chatted the afternoon away.
Wishing all you a most Merry and blessed Christmas.

Absolutely exquisite! This is the kind of table that I love to see when I visit people's homes during the Christmas season. Lots of drama going on without being a Paramount production! :-) I am sitting here nursing a glass of eggnog right now, but that Ginger Snap sounds pretty doggone good. I'm kind of scared to mix different alcohols, so I'll hold off on trying it until tomorrow. Ooooh...my parents are coming for dinner, so that will be the perfect after dinner drink!!! I think even Mr. Tea-totaler Ramon will enjoy that!!! You set a gorgeous table, Alma, and I have no doubt your friends enjoyed every detail of it. Merry Christmas to you and your family, and have a safe and fun New Year!!!
What a wonderful lunch for friends! The Ginger Snap drink sounds dee-lish! I need to try that one. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
I guess I do love the Spode Christmas Tree dishes after all! Love the nutcrackers marching down the center of the table. Your menu sounds divine. And the tart - oo la la! Merry Christmas! xo
I'm back to say that I just fixed myself a Ginger Snap because we had everything! YUM and CHEERS !

Sharing time and celebrating friendship during the holidays is my favorite part of the season. I enjoy visiting in other's homes and having friends to our home. It's always so festive! Special times indeed.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful nutcracker table. Every detail is a delight.
