Seasonal Sundays #109 - Ferry Ride

Seasonal Sunday Teapot copy

Welcome to Seasonal Sundays.

They say that Long Island is shaped like a fish.

The eastern of Long Island forks. There is the North Fork and the South Fork and in between the two forks is Shelter Island.

In order to get to Shelter Island you must take a ferry –

or I guess you could swim! LOL! There is one ferry from the South Fork and…

…an entirely different ferry company from the North Fork.

I love the feel of breaking away from the dock…

…and moving across the water…

…with your car!

The views…

…spectacular!

What have you been up to these glorious days of summer?

It's a rainy day here in Sunny Queensland. We are in the middle of winter which is quite nice normally with blue skies and warm temperatures. Today we are enjoying a grey Sunday... relaxing! Lovely ferry trip! Thanks for hosting each week!

I love Long Island. I used to visit when I lived in Manhattan. One of my dearest friends just bought a weekend place in Mautauk last summer. Can't wait to visit her there. Thanks for hosting.

We took the ferry over to Shelter Island on our visit to Long Island years ago. Your photos are fabulous and make me yearn for a return trip. One of these days.......Sarah

My hubby has spent a lot of time at Shelter Island before we were married. We now enjoy our camp at the lake. Any time I can be near the water, I am a very happy girl.

I should really do a little post and link up :) Went shopping and got a bunch of stuff at HG (merci) and still have 1/2 left. I haven't been out to the far end of the Island in years - I would love to go to Fire Island one time. And I never knew LI was shaped like a fish! xo

The ferry ride looks like fun! We went on a ferry from Hilton Head to Savanah a few years ago and I loved it! No cars though. Your pictures are great.

I remember being on a ferry years ago when my parents lived on Long Island. They lived in Bay Shore and we took the ferry to Fire Island. What great memories I have of that.

No matter how you travel on water, just being on it is the absolute best.

I love going on a ferry when the sea is calm. We often go across to Ireland as we are near one of the ferries! I've been on ferries across from Dover to France and across Lake Michigan. I think the worst was from Malta to Sicily where we were sick the whole way and had to face the trip home again at the end of the day. Not good! I'm so glad that you enjoyed yours! Joan

I didn't do anything this last week. Well, I did get my hair cut, daughter's hair cut, nails done, and made all of my summer health care appointments. Not very exciting! Thanks for sharing the ferry photos and Long Island info.

I love ferries! I live on the prairies so they are rare but we are going to the coast this summer so I will have to see if I can manage to also include a visit to the island :)

I've only been to Shelter Island a couple of times, Alma. It's a lovely ferry trip. I also like the long ferry that crosses LI Sound to CT.

Glad you had a good trip to pick up your treasure.
:)
SI is nice to visit but I couldn't stand living there being at the mercy of the ferry sched and the cost would cut into the shopping budget!

The view from your ferry ride is just gorgeous!! We love to take the ferry from Southport to Fort Fisher when we're at the beach. Our son is 22 yrs. old now, and he has loved riding the ferry since he was a toddler. Your pictures make me want to be at the beach. :)

Thank you again for hosting Seasonal Sundays and have a great week!

I loved this "water view" today. I woke up longing to head to a lake or beach somewhere, but it was so hot here and we have vacation coming very soon...so, we opted to stay home and get a few things done instead. Now I feel as if I got a little dose of the sea!

Gorgeous Scenery!! I've never been there, but would sure love to visit!
