Welcome to The Tablescaper. Today my table is all about the SHAPES of blue, rather than the shades of blue.
As you may recall, I challenged myself to do all of my tablescapes for the month of January in BLUE. No, I’m not blue (meaning depressed), it’s just that I have a LOT of blue tableware and really thought it way high time to get it all into action.
Part of the challenge is that each one has to be unique and different.
This week’s tablescape has a contemporary flair to it with…
…angles (love how the little block pattern in the dish is repeated in the runner) and…
…square plates and..
…round goblets and candle holders.
If you peak through the mesh of the runner, you’ll see that even the pattern on pattern in the tablecloth is geometric.
True to my New Year’s resolution there is nothing new on the table (don’t know how long this will last, but I’m two tablescapes into the the New Year) .
Last Spring I purchased the cobalt dinner plates through a fantastic sale at Pfaltzgraff (Mikasa and Pfalzgraff are owned by the same company). I had seen the salad plates at Christmas Tree with the sweet little birdie several times, but I kept holding off. Really, just how many sets of blue plates can one have? Well, when when the went to clearance for around a dollar a piece, I just couldn’t resist any longer.
Aren’t these guys adorable? I think it’s neat for each place to have their own set (long ago HomeGoods purchase).
These glass bowls were purchased a number of years ago at a non-chain dollar store. Sadly, they’re no longer in business.
The napkin rings were on clearance (I think .99@) at Bed, Bath and Beyond from sometime in this past year. The napkins were a HomeGoods purchase.
The glasses were a purchase, also from HomeGoods, in the beginning of my serious collecting (probably about 7 years ago).
Hope to see you Sunday!

Your blue table is just beautiful! I love your dishes and all your accessories. Those glasses are so pretty too. I have some like your large ones.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Great blue shapes, love the bird dishes ;) xo
What a wonderful tablesetting! I have some margarita glasses that have cobalt stems. I've always liked blue and white together and once even had a blue and white kitchen (hence the glasses). Thanks so much for stopping by and becoming a follower! I'll be happy to follow your blog as well.
Wow!! This is tablescape is breathtaking!
I love your blue tablescape this week. I have no doubt you will be able to come up with new and fresh "blue" ideas all month. How exciting! Susie
You did it again...another fabulous blue table! Everything looks great.
Beautiful table! Thanks for sharing! You are so good! Joann
I LOVE it when the SHAPE of table items takes centerstage!!! The shape of the elements really is important in making a table look pulled together. A lot of people don't realize that! The eye can just sense when the shapes are off kilter. I commend you for setting another beautiful table without spending a dime. It's easier than we think once we get into it. You are 2 in for the year. I'm rooting for you!!! I'm doing the same thing (not because I want to, of course!), and it's crazy how many things I have that have NEVER been used in any way, shape, or form. I know they're there, but I just pass them up day after day, week after week. Shame on me! Kudos to you!!!
Beautiful! Love those napkins and rings, and the dark blue plate is lovely! I think this would be perfect for some Chinese food, I don't know why!
Maybe I will have to do a grown up table next week, LOL.
Well, you know that you and I are both charter members of the blue is better club. The tablescape is wonderful, and I always love a study in pattern and geometrics. I adore the individual cobalt S&P's. Re: your resolution to use what you have...I had to giggle because I had to wonder how long you'll have to wait to use the new things that you're bringing into the house to make the resolution effective...LOL. Thank you for inviting us for a peak.
I really enjoying your month of blue tablescapes. I have lots of blue dishes myself and I might try to use them a bit more this winter. Love the bird salad plates...so cute!!
hugs, Linda
Another winner! Cobalt is one of my favorites so you know I love this table. Dianne
Yay! So glad you've kept your NY's Resolution on not buying anything new and that's because, I love seeing all these beautiful things you already own! Another gorgeous blue table! You've created a totally different look which shows how creative you are. Looking forward to the next "case of the blues"!

What a pretty table! My mother would adore it! She does love her blue!
I see you are keeping your promise to yourself! That's a good thing! Your blue stemware is a perfect choice! Home Goods is my new favorite storet- too bad I don't have one close by!

I'm thrilled you are featuring blue tablescapes this month. I love the idea of a theme! All the shapes and the deep cobalt blue make for a fabulous combination. Beautiful table as always. ~ Sarah
You are constantly coming up with the most BEAUTIFUL and creative tablescapes. Sometimes I would just like to climb into your mind and see all these grand thoughts you must have. Oh I'd be in design heaven. You just amaze me. One of these fine days I'm going to come and visit and see all your great stuff. You are a brillant designer!! However you live quite aways away.... like across the country from me so I'll wait for better weather. But have your coffee cake made and your table set and I'll be there. (smile)

OK..I love everything!! The mix of shapes are amazing. Blue is Beautiful!!...
GORGEOUS!! You have SOOOO many beautiful dishes & glasses, Honey...this is a wonderful way to share them with us.
I'm impressed with your eye for the geometrics and would never have spotted the patterns that you took note of.
I can't imagine what you'll come up with next!
fondly,

All of us blue-lovers are enjoying your January tables! I love the contemporary feel of this one, and my favorite elements are the salad plates and those gorgeous napkins! They really shine!
You are such a master at tablescaping. This is beautiful. I love those s/p shakers, and how wonderful to have enough for each place setting. The simplicity of the square vases with two roses is stunning. I tend to overdo centerpieces, always thinking they are not enough, but this proves just how beautiful simplicity can be. laurie
I am so enjoying following your 'self challenge' and each one has been beautiful! I love blue myself and can't wait each week for your post!
We love what you've done with your HomeGoods finds. The blue shape theme is very creative!
This looks great! I especially love the napkins, the creamy roses, the bird plates, and the individual salt and peppers in cobalt blue. This table has a very serene look and feel. Congrats on using what you already have. I know I'm going to have to buy a few things for my next table. I think I just haven't been collecting as long as some of you have. :)
Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!

I LOVE cobalt blue! Everything is fabulous, and l love the cetnterpieces. When my father died, my husband brought me roses in a beautiful cobalt blue vase, with a card that said, "don't be blue," I cherish my blue vase.
Lovely and colorful table. I have always wanted to buy some cobalt blue
goblets, but every time I think.... where are you gonna store them!! lol
Really think this table is so pretty,
blue and white is always a crisp clean favorite of mine. Love the plates with the bird, very pretty.
Nice challenge for yourself, I will have to go find last weeks and see what you did. Looking forward to seeing the ones to come.
Happy New year to you as well,
blessings, Nellie
Thank you for joining me at Home Sweet Home!
