Welcome to The Tablescaper. I love this week between Christmas and New Year’s. I get to share time with my children and just slow down. I don’t believe in taking my decoration down until after the Epiphany. The Epiphany is on January 6th and is the 12th day after Christmas and celebrates the visit of the the three wise men to the baby Jesus. In my continuing celebration of Christmas, I’m bringing my repost to Chari at Happy to Design for “Sunday Favorites".

Christmas Tree Spode Splendor
As anyone who regularly visits The Tablescaper knows, I have many sets of dishes.
I love to mix and match.
I have numerous different patterns of Christmas dishes, but…
…the only full set of Christmas dishes that I had was Christmas Lenox.
I wanted a complete set to use in my kitchen throughout the holidays. And for once, not to be mixing and matching (as much as I love it, for daily use, it doesn’t always come off.) Clearly the Lenox was too formal for everyday.
There is only one store that I go to, on the day after Christmas for the sales.
It’s a small local shop that carries china. What a surprise. LOL!
Through the years I had picked up a few pieces of Christmas Tree Spode, including these ramekins.
Last year, on the day after Christmas, they had such a great sale, that I took the plunge and bought the entire set. And yes, Kathleen, that means a set of 12 – cups, saucers, dinner plates, salad plates, and bowls.
As this December approached I eagerly awaited the debut of my new set.
I decided I wanted to do something a bit different with the table linens. It’s hard to find a more traditional set of Christmas china than Christmas Tree Spode. I wanted to give it a bit of flair. I was thrilled to find this tablecloth and napkins by April Cornell. The black background sets it apart from your more traditional Christmas linens.
The use of the olive tinted glasses harmonizes with the table linens and the Spode. They were a great find this Summer at Christmas Tree.
The flatware (also used in last week’s tablescape) was a long ago purchase from Walmart.
I can’t remember where I got the little stockings…
…probably HomeGoods.
The hurricanes were a purchase several years ago from HomeGoods.
And jolly old St. Nick was a gift.
Hope you’re enjoying the splendor of the season.
* Note: Last year April Cornell ran a Christmas tablescaping contest and this table won first place in the professional division.
See you Sunday for Seasonal Sundays. It’s my Sunday
meme and it gives bloggers a chance to share what the season means
to them. I can’t wait to see all of your year end posts, along with your great intentions
for the New Year!

Always *so* very pretty! I love this week between Christmas and the New Year, too. And like you, I don't take my decorations down until the weekend after Epiphany. I want to celebrate all 12 days of Christmas! Happy New Year! :)
Beautiful, beautiful!!! I love that china, and the April Cornell table cloth is just perfect for it! We also celebrate the three kings and do not take anything down either. My husband was so disappointed when he came here from Puerto Rico to see that people take everything down the day after Christmas. I actually think celebrating the three kings is more focused on what Christmas is for us anyway.
You always have such remarkable and lovely table scapes. My decoration will be up aanother week, then it is get ready for a wedding.
Happy New Year
Oh, what a festive and welcoming table! The linens you've collected are fantastic and so rich in colour. I love the green glasses and the little Santa candle is so gorgeous, too. I can certainly see why you won first prize in the April Cornell contest!
I, too, enjoy my home decorated for the holidays until after 'Three Kings'. I am sad to see it all come down.
Wishing you and yours a Happy and Healthy New Year!

All I can say is; gorgeous! A splendid table! I'm so happy for you that you were able to complete your Spode set. Your linens, glassware, everything is so very festive and I'm sure your table is a delight to dine at. Happy New Year!
Blessings,
Sandi
Stunning table! The Spode is beautiful. Many years ago (many, many) I visited The May Company after Christmas and found the Pfalzgraff Christmas Heritage on sale. I bought a set with four placesettings and a set of four luncheon plates to use for the children. I would return each year and buy 1 or 2 more placesettings or serving pieces. I really couldn't afford it anyway and I wish I would have aimed a little higher and gone with the Spode. It is so much more elegant. We do enjoy our Pfaltzgraff on the one to two days a year that we do use it! Unfortunately the pattern has been long discontinued. I still spot a piece here and there. I am totally in love with your ramikins! They are just precious.
My youngest son's birthday is January 5th and we always wait for Epiphany to take down the decorations. I don't think people realize that the first day of Christmas is Jesus' birthday and the celebration of the 12 days of Christmas STARTS then! I wish people celebrated Christmas at Christmas. My sister-in-law puts her tree up at Halloween and takes it down Christmas night. Goofy. :)
How wonderful! Obviously adding a complete dozen of this beautiful Christmas china must have been a thrill.
I know you will enjoy these for years to come. Your tables through the year are always a treat for me. I look forward to what you will create and share in 2012.
Happy New Year! ~ Sarah
Hi lovely lady.
this is magazine quality tablescaping. And your warmth shines through too. I feel like an invited guest when I visit. I love everything about this, but the china and centerpiece really are super special. I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2012 New Year!!!

I am not at all surprised that this table won...it's beautiful! The black tablecloth just pulls me right in.
Your table is so lovely. I started collecting Spode Christmas Tree years ago and still love it after all these years. I love how you put it with the black because it makes the pattern pop!!
thanks for your post -
Have a blessed 2012!
So did you go this year? You didn't mention any new finds.
Love that tablecloth!
And of course we leave the decos up till Epiphany.
Just gorgeous! This is the first year I have really appreciated Spode. I've seen it for years but never really paid a lot of attention to it until this year after selling it and looking at it everyday on the display as it dwindled down. It really is a pretty pattern perfect for a more casual setting. I love the linens you chose in this setting as well! I can see why this setting won. Great job!
I too have this April Cornell tablecloth and napkins, and love your beautiful combination! I also have the Spode Christmas Tree earthenware, but have recently added Spode Christmas Rose bone china plates with a festive green-bordered accent salad plate. I love the mix! This year I placed a sprig of spruce with a German clip-on tree candle-holder and a bright red candle above each place setting. I let each guest take their candle-holder home as a favor. I fold the napkins in a water lily pattern, which shows off the lovely red accented border. These are my favorite linens!
