Christmas Eve Dinner 2011

Christmas 2011 110

Welcome to The Tablescaper.

Christmas 2011 097

I sincerely hope that you and your families had a magnificent Christmas.

Christmas 2011 110

My Christmas table for my family was all things plaid!

Christmas 2011 116

As my family is of German descent, our big celebration has always been on Christmas Eve.

Copy of Christmas 2011 121

After a beautiful mass, at which my youngest daughter sang with the choir, we all gathered at my home for the celebration.

Christmas 2011 124

We started with light hors d'oeuvres of a cheese platter and a tower of shrimp cocktail. Then Santa stopped by for a quick visit.

Christmas 2011 107

Our first course was sushi! I know, a bit different for a Christmas dinner, but we all love it. I used the tiny poinsettia plates for the soy sauce and wasabi.

Christmas 2011 106

The main course was filet mignon, steamed lobster (the little tree ramekins were for the melted butter), twice baked potatoes and asparagus. All served with lots and lots of champagne!

Christmas 2011 127

After dinner we exchange gifts and then leisurely drift into dessert.

Christmas 2011 090

Since dinner is so elaborate, I like to go a little light on dessert.

Christmas 2011 093

My sister-in-law Anne is a masterful baker and always brings a large platter of magnificent cookies. I also served an Edible Arrangement and lemon sorbet in lemons.

Christmas 2011 095

It was a delightful evening.

Christmas 2011 111

Merry Christmas.

I LOVE all your plaids. I am so fond of red plaids and tried to buy the WS plaid tablecloth but alas when I tried much too late they were sold out. Hopefully, they will bring it back next year because it surely was a popular item. As soon as I see I will grab it up.

I sooooooooo enjoyed your lovely post.

It looks beautiful, but I knew it would! Love the plaid, and the glassware is so pretty.
Did you ever use the CTS plaid plates? I so wanted to see them in a scape since I missed out on them!
I am glad your Mass was beautiful, and that the celebrations afterward was too.
Going back for another look!

Beautiful table, and the menu sounds fabulous! My family is part German descent and part Scottish, so I have been thinking of using a plaid theme soon...possibly next year! I love all your plaid elements and you mixed everything so beautifully! As I always say, you're such an inspiration! Thank you und Eines glückliches Neujahr!

I have a question! Is your plaid dinnerware Nikko Tartan Plaid? It looks just about the same as our dress tartan (Stewart clan)...I'd love to start collecting it if it is!
