The other week Mr. Scaper and I went on a wonderful outing to Eataly in Manhattan. For the full effect of this post, be sure to turn on your sound (yes, Kathleen, even you!).
You can read all about our excursion in my Eataly post.
What to bring back from such an amazing place is a very difficult choice.
Chunks of Parmesan Reggiano cheese with torn pieces of bread dipped in olive oil…
…were an awesome way to start the meal. A sprinkling of sea salt and freshly grated pepper bring the olive oil to life.
Eatlaly had such an amazing choice of fresh tomatoes. In the depths of this never ending winter…
…nothing could be better than fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and fresh basil. When my children smelled the basil, they immediately thought of SUMMER!
Fresh pasta was on the top of the list.
In order to fully appreciate the flavor of the fresh pasta, I made a simple sauce of garlic…
…and olive oil.
Sauté the garlic until it JUST begins to turn golden (see that one little golden spot!).
With a large pot of boiling water at the ready, the fresh pasta cooks in just moments.
Be sure not to over cook it. You want it al dente, firm to the bite.
Pasta Aglio Et Olio is one of my family’s favorites.
And of course the meal couldn’t be complete…
…without a glass of Italian red wine!
I used the bone plate for our sides.
I totally love this pasta set. My children laughed that it had never been in a post before,…
…as the entire set is so frequently on our dinner table.
Mangia!

Beautiful table! and the food looks fab! I swear I can smell the garlic!!
Those side plates are ingenious! I've never seen such a shape before. I could really use these...I'm one of those grown-ups who still don't like their food touching! :)
I love those bowls and mats, and they look great with the Towle flatware! I have to go back to look again.
While the aroma of garlic in oil is heavenly, I can't eat it. I am allergic.
Dinner looks delicious!
Love that you told Kathleen to turn up the sound! I know she hates music on blogs but sometimes it really goes with a theme as in your case! Your purchases at Eataly were put to good use - looks so delicious! The blue/white dishes are lovely and what a great idea to use bone dishes for your sides!

I am starving now! I absolutely adore the navy blue setting! Fantastic job with the decor (and helping me decide that pasta is for dinner)
Oh boy, my mouth is watering! You have just helped me decide what I will be making for dinner tonight! Thanks for the ideas!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
Oh, this is just what I'd like to be eating tonight. Pasta Aglio Et Olio is one of my favorite dishes. I may have to put in a request tonight. ;-)
I'm working on my TT post. It will be up later tonight.
Stay warm and thanks for sharing this delightful taste of Italy. I even turned up the music! ;-)

Beautiful table ... beautiful food! Love the post. Thanks so much for sharing.
Tomatoes and mozzarella, you can't beat it and your salad makes me so look forward to summer flavors. You were really taken with your Eataly experience!
BTW, I woke up this morning with your Alleleuias dancing in my head.
Looks like a wonderful place with delicious food!
Katherine
REally love your pasta set. The blue and white is outstanding. Thanks for letting us in on your family dining!
Oh my this looks so wonderful! Homemade Italian and Dean Martin singing -- does it get any better than that?
LOL, I turned off the music AND I see you in the spoon.
Dining Delights is an old friend from the Holidays Forum.
Do you play German music with the Sauerbraten? :)
There's nothing like good ol' Italian food to soothe the soul and cure what ails you! Maybe it's the garlic...maybe it's the olive oil...or maybe, just maybe, it's all the great red wine!!! The antipasto is always very important, and yours looks wonderful!
Aglio e olio is my favorite way to eat pasta. Love the pasta bowls.
I will be glad when they come up with scratch and sniff computer screens! This food looks incredible!
I may have to go saute some fresh garlic right now...and it's almost midnight. My mouth is watering, and my eyes are happy...love the pasta set. So many possibilities for these lovely dishes. Thank you for sharing your wonderful design. Cherry Kay
Glad you had a great "Romantic" weekend and that you missed the blizzard snow storm... brrr. Your photo's really captured your trip to Eataly. What an awesome place. Love your blue and white dishes and those candle holders too!!! And Dean's not so bad either. I turned up my speakers. lol Mrs. S
This post has made me very HUNGRY!!!
It is not even 8:00 A.M. yet and I am ready for that Italian Feast!
Yum Yum!

that looks so good, and the blue really pops...it's just so summery or something, too. a nice change from this heaviness of winter.
I love garlic - bring it on! Oh my, everything from Eataly that you bought sounds wonderful.
Your Italian menu is so appetizing and the whole Italian table is so perfect, complete with music really sets the mood.....Christine
Well, my dear Tablescaper, were you hiding those blue plates from us? They are wonderful. And this entire post has me drooling! Each picture is so clear that I felt like reaching in and taking a piece, and I really could smell the garlic and oil. And that pasta was perfect! And the mozzarella and tomatoes and BASIL!!!! I really need to go to Eataly. I actually turned on your music --I NEVER put on the music and I am glad I did because nothing reminds me of Italy like Volare. When we were there it seemed that it was playing everywhere. Linda
the blue and white dishes are just beautiful. What a lovely table and I'm sure it smelled heavenly!
What a festive table! I love the placemats and pasta set - and the food looks wonderful! I hope you'll stop by if you get a chance. I just posted my BEST tablescape ever!
Lovely Italian fare. Makes my mouth water, especially the fresh Basil. How do you store all of the dinnerware and table accouterments? Do you have a butler's pantry with glazed cabinetes?
An amazing and mouthwatering table! I had forgot what a real tomato looked like. Between your post and the Top Chef Masters Italian challenge this week - I see some pasta in my future. YUM
The simplicity of the food and the lovely blue/white dinnerware is magnificent! I am such a fan of garlic- it is truly nature's best seasoning. I think I'm due for a pasta meal tonight! yumm....
I am totally drooling. Everything looks delicious! I love your blue and white linens and pasta bowls, and that wonderful flatware. Using the bone plate for sides is genius! Thank you for linking this to Favorite Things. I think I need to go cook some pasta.
