Fairy Land

Welcome to Fairy Land. I hope you enjoy my very late entry in the Cloche Party at Marty’s, A Stroll Through Life. It’s also my early entry for Susan’s Tablescape Thursday.

My daughter and I spent an entire day putting this tablescape together. It was a snow day – no school! We pulled  little friends from all over the house.

The fairies said…

…please let us in.

It’s very snowy out there.

Way too cold out there.


The leaf shaped lavender plates provided the perfect place for a fairy to land for the day.

I used a collection of mismatched silver plate collected through the years. It just seemed to match the whimsy of the tablescape.


The napkin rings of twiggy branches with amethyst crystals helped build the fairy forest – indoors.

All of the fairies got to play.

Some danced, some sang.



Tinker Bell loved the company, amongst the mushrooms and flowers.

A little seraphim joined the merriment.

This little fairy hopped in the petal creamer.

Is this the Queen of the fairies?

Oh please let me out, so I may fly about…

…amongst the ivy and fairy lights.

Mardi Gras

It’s Fat Tuesday and time to…
gather all your friends round the table to celebrate.

Just pull out the glitz…

…and glitter.

Might you wear a mask to disguise yourself?

There are many kinds.


Some with feathers…

Some that shine. Don’t forget the beads.

Check out all of the shine – even the napkin ring. It’s iridescent and gold. I wanted a little more gold, so added a gold doily for just a bit more gold.

This beautiful gilded Venetian pitcher and matching wine goblets was inherited from my husband’s family.

The raised detail in the flower petals is amazing.


The heavy gilding and intricate detail on the pitcher are beautiful.






Just add good food and celebrate…for tomorrow begins the season of Lent.

Blue Monday Tulip

Exquisite purple buds are ready to burst open with a splash of color from the warmth of our home.

The pageantry of  Spring brought to our homes a few weeks early.

Be my Valentine

Welcome to the Tablescaper. This is one of those tablescapes that I love because I basically had everything (with minor exceptions) and it was just a matter of putting it all together.

The white heart shaped dinner plates are made in Portugal. The little red heart shaped plates with a beaded edge are unmarked. Both were purchased at HomeGoods through the years. The flatware is an awesome set purchased at Wal-Mart several years ago.

Time for dinner.

Fun wine glasses from a dollar store.

Our Valentine’s tree creation was crafted from my leftover branches from my New Year’s Eve centerpiece, placed in a red glass vase, and decorated with a collection of hearts. Check out my post from Mosaic Monday for a close up of the ornaments.

A place for everyone.

These little place card holders were my big purchase. They were $1.00 @ at Christmas Tree Shoppes this year.

I had the bowl and spied these great salad servers in November at HomeGoods. Not only are the beads on the handles heart shaped, but there are hearts in the beads, and the base of the servers are heart shaped as well!

Cutie little tea lights and tea light holders. Both are dollar store purchases from through the years.

It does all come together nicely for a family Valentine’s celebration!

I think it’s wonderful that we live in a country where a quick trip to the grocery store can add such a bit of splendor to our lives.

To think that while we’re wheeling up and down the aisles loading our carts with the necessaries of life, we can add a little pot of sunshine.

You bring home a little pot all green and brown, and the warmth of your home brings the buds alive.

Giving us that burst of life and color that we all need in the midst of the long season of winter.

All of that from adding a little pot or two to your grocery cart.
